Seth will be returning this summer for his 4th season as Head Coach of Lakeview Dive. He joins us after completing his Sophomore year at UNC-Wilmington, where he his majoring in Business. Seth will be transferring to the University of South Dakota in the Fall, where he will continue to compete as an NCAA Division 1 Diver. Coach Seth started diving for Lakeview when we was 10. NVSL dive ignited the spark for Seth’s love of the sport. He began diving year-round after his second summer and won his first Divisional Championship as a Junior diver (11-12yrs). Seth went on to win Divisionals as an Intermediate (13-14yrs) and again as a Senior (15+yrs). He competed in multiple All-Star meets with is best finish in 3rd place as a Senior diver. Seth is the current Lakeview record holder for both Intermediate and Senior Boy divers. He is a certified Lifeguard and a licensed Pool Operator. Seth’s technical expertise and passion for the sport of diving make him a valuable asset to Lakeview as the Head Dive Coach.
Cassidy has been an athlete from a young age, playing soccer in the area before she started gymnastics when she was 7 and began diving shortly after. Cassidy dove for Lakeview from the age of 8 until aging out last season. She has helped to coach younger kids since she was 11 years old and then moved on to be an assistant coach before becoming a head coach in 2016. Cassidy competed in varsity cheerleading, gymnastics, and dive in high school and graduated in 2018. She now attends Virginia Tech and is majoring in National Security and Foreign Affairs. Her favorite thing about coaching is seeing her divers accomplish new goals and seeing their improvement throughout the season.
Jake Mitchell has been a competitive diver since the age of 11 and a competitive gymnast since the age of 5. He has competed nationally at the highest levels in both sports. In 2018, Jake earned 6th place at the Red White and Blue National Dive Championships in Coral Springs, Florida. He won 3rd place in the Hawaii State Dive Championships as a Freshman and placed in the top 10 in the Virginia State Dive Championships in both 2018 and 2019. Since moving to Virginia as a sophomore, Jake has enjoyed competing during the summers in NVSL. He has qualified numerous times for the NVSL All-Star Dive Championships, earning 4th place in last year’s highly competitive Senior Division. Jake is a USA Gymnastics Academic All-American, a 4-year Varsity Letterman in diving, and a two-time Dive All-American qualifier. Jake has been a recreational gymnastics coach for five years, instructing youth, ages 3-adult. In June, Jake will graduate from Robinson Secondary School and head to the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he will study International Affairs. As a certified lifeguard, a seasoned youth athletic coach, and a competitive diver himself, Jake is excited to coach the Lakeview Marlins this year. He looks forward to helping young divers conquer their fears and achieve their goals.
